The oleoresin is extracted from Copaiba trees by the communities of the Agro-extractive Association of the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS), located in the State of Amazonas in the municipalities of São Sebastião do Uatumã and Itapiranga. Copaiba is popularly known as the "miracle tree."
