THE POWER OF OUR ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Browse below to learn about the natural ingredients that are part of our formulations:
Copaiba
Copaifera sp.
Oleo-resin extracted from the trunk of Amazonian trees, used since the colonial period in Brazilian folk, indigenous, and pharmaceutical medicine. Its main compound, beta-caryophyllene, has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to control oiliness and soothe the skin without damaging its natural microbiome. It is the foundation of the Copaíba Hydra line by Amakos, created to cleanse and treat without the rebound effect of conventional products.
Dragon's Blood
Croton lechleri
Dark red sap that "bleeds" when the tree trunk is cut — hence the name. For indigenous peoples of the western Amazon and the Andes, such as the Quechuas, it is viewed as the forest's immune system in liquid form, traditionally used in wound healing and postpartum compresses. Rich in taspine and proanthocyanidins, with antioxidant capacity superior to vitamin E, it stimulates collagen production and accelerates skin recovery.
Açaí
Euterpe oleracea
The name comes from the Tupi term yasa'i, "the fruit that cries" — a reference to the purple juice that drips when the fruits are crushed. For the peoples of the Amazon, the açaí palm is the "tree of life": nothing goes to waste, from the heart of palm to the fibers. Rich in anthocyanins and antioxidants, it purifies and protects the skin against daily oxidative stress.
Roses
Rosa canina / Hybrid rose
Rose distillation is an ancient practice, historically associated with royal beauty rituals. Rich in polyphenols, rose has antioxidant and soothing properties, helping to balance skin pH and restore radiance immediately after cleansing—even in sensitive areas like the eye contour.
Pracaxi
Pentaclethra macroloba
Oil rich in behenic acid, traditionally used by riverside midwives in the Amazon for skin care. It forms a protective film that seals hair cuticles and the skin's surface, without the buildup effect of synthetic silicones—which is why it replaces industrial sealants in Amakos hair formulas.
Babassu
Orbignya oleifera
Oil extracted from babassu palm kernels, traditionally harvested manually and sustainably by the "coconut breakers" of Northern and Northeastern Brazil. It penetrates deep into the skin, dissolving hardened sebum and impurities without drying it out—which is why it is the foundation of Amakos cleansing formulas that respect the skin barrier.
Passiflora (Passion Fruit)
Passiflora edulis
Oil extracted from the seeds of the passion fruit, a fruit native to Brazil. Rich in linoleic acid (omega 6), it replenishes the skin's lipid barrier and reduces transepidermal water loss. It has soothing and oil-regulating properties, making it one of the few plant oils suitable even for sensitive skin prone to redness.
Jojoba
Simmondsia chinensis
A vegetable oil with a molecular structure very similar to human skin's natural sebum—which is why it is absorbed quickly without leaving an oily residue and helps regulate the skin's own oil production. One of the few active ingredients that works on both oily and dry skin.
Cupuaçu
Theobroma grandiflorum
A relative of cocoa, native to the Amazon. The butter extracted from its seeds has a moisture retention capacity up to 200% greater than shea butter, forming a protective barrier against dryness. Traditional communities have long used the seeds as protection against dry winds.
White Clay
Kaolin
Mineral of volcanic or sedimentary origin, used for centuries in beauty rituals for its ability to absorb impurities through physical adsorption — that is, without drying out the skin as more aggressive clays do. It helps brighten dark spots and unclog pores while maintaining skin elasticity.
Green Clay
Green clay
A mineral rich in iron oxide associated with various trace elements such as magnesium, potassium, and selenium, formed by the decomposition of rocks and volcanic ash over millennia. Widely used in natural medicine for its absorbent and detoxifying properties, it performs a gentle physical exfoliation on the scalp, absorbing excess sebum and pollution residues without harming the hair bulb.
Breu Branco
Protium heptaphyllum: Resin extracted from Amazonian trees of the Protium genus, which "weeps" a fragrant sap when the bark is wounded, crystallizing upon contact with air. Traditionally used in purification incense rituals for physical and spiritual cleansing by native peoples, its volatile compounds have a calming effect when inhaled.

Rosewood
Aniba rosaeodora
Amazonian tree whose essential oil, extracted from the wood, is rare and valued for its characteristic woody aroma and balancing effect on the skin. It is a species that currently receives special attention regarding sustainable management, given the historical exploitation of its wood for the perfumery industry.
Buriti
Mauritia flexuosa
Known as the "tree of life" in various regions of the Amazon, for providing food, fiber, and oil. Its oil is one of the greatest plant sources of pro-vitamin A (beta-carotene), with antioxidant action and deep nourishment for skin and hair.
Andiroba
Carapa guianensis
The name comes from the Tupi "nhandi-robi," meaning "bitter oil." For indigenous peoples like the Munduruku, it is the tree of physical healing—traditionally used to anoint muscles before and after long hunting or rowing expeditions. It has recognized anti-inflammatory properties and is currently used in treatments for joint pain and muscle recovery.
Green Coffee
Coffea arabica
Coffee beans harvested before roasting, preserving a higher concentration of caffeine and chlorogenic acid. The active caffeine stimulates local microcirculation, helping to reduce puffiness and dark circles — which is why it is one of the key active ingredients in eye care and in controlling scalp oiliness.
Arnica
Arnica montana
A plant of European origin, traditionally used to soothe bruises, swelling, and muscle pain. It stimulates local circulation, which explains its long-standing use in both sports care and the eye area, where it helps reduce puffiness caused by fluid retention.
Hyaluronic Acid (from Tucumã)
Hyaluronic acid
A biotechnological evolution that mimics the polysaccharide naturally present in the human extracellular matrix, responsible for retaining water and maintaining a youthful glow. Amakos uses a high and low molecular density complex stimulated by Tucumã enzymes, creating an immediate plumping effect on fine lines and deep hydration in cellular layers, making it ideal for the thin and sensitive skin of the eyelids.
Rosemary
Rosmarinus officinalis
Aromatic herb widely used in wellness rituals for its stimulating and invigorating action. On the skin and scalp, it helps to activate local circulation, contributing to the relief of muscle tension and a sensation of lightness.
Peppermint
Peppermint
Botanical hybrid originating from the cross between watermint and spearmint, used since Ancient Egypt for its medicinal and invigorating properties. It is the largest natural source of pure menthol, a volatile organic compound that, upon contact with the skin, activates cold-sensitive ion channels (TRPM8 receptors). This biological process tricks the nervous system, creating an intense sensation of freshness, tension relief, and immediate vasoconstriction.
Lemon
Citrus limon
Its volatile citrus compounds (monoterpenes) penetrate the skin quickly, activating venous return in seconds. This is why it appears in fast-acting formulas designed to provide relief to swollen legs and feet throughout the day.
Jaborandi
Pilocarpus microphyllus
A plant native to Brazil, whose leaves are traditionally used by Brazilian tribes in hair-strengthening baths. It contains pilocarpine, a compound that stimulates the hair bulb and is one of the key active ingredients in Phytotec formulas for combating hair loss.
Tucumã
Astrocaryum vulgare
Amazonian palm tree whose orange pulp is consumed daily by riverine communities as a source of energy. Native women extract oil from the seed to treat skin dried out by the sun and wind — and also used it on the eyelid area. Rich in beta-carotene, it stimulates the skin's natural production of hyaluronic acid.
Green Tea
Camellia sinensis
Leaves rich in catechins, antioxidant compounds that have been widely studied. In the Amakos hair care line, the extract is nanoencapsulated to penetrate deeper into the scalp, prolonging its strengthening action for up to 12 hours after washing.
Murumuru
Astrocaryum murumuru
Butter extracted from the seed of an Amazonian palm tree, traditionally prepared by forest women as a nourishing paste against breakage caused by the strong sun. It creates a protective film on the strands, reducing frizz without the cumulative effect of industrial silicones.
Flaxseed
Linum usitatissimum
Seed rich in polysaccharides that, when processed, form a natural gel with sealing properties. It creates a flexible network around the hair fiber, helping to control frizz and protect hair from heat without weighing it down.
Cumaru
Dipteryx odorata
Considered a sacred tree by Amazonian tribes, who traditionally extract oil from its seeds for strengthening baths. Today, it is also valued for its characteristic woody aroma and for complementing the stimulating action of active ingredients like green coffee in hair care formulas.
Patchouli
Pogostemon cablin
Oil extracted from the leaves by steam distillation, with calming and balancing properties recognized for centuries in wellness rituals. Its volatile compounds (phytoncides) act via olfactory receptors, helping to reduce stress spikes when inhaled.
