September 5th marks Amazon Day, celebrating one of the planet's richest natural heritages and reserves.

Amazonian Active Ingredients
Amakos da Amazônia has a cosmetic collection. There are 12 dermatologically tested products divided into four lines: Copaíba Hydra; Cacay Vital; Dragon's Blood Antioxidant; and Green Nanotechnology.
Dragon's Blood Antioxidant Line
Dragon's Blood resin (Croton lechieri Muel. Arg, scientific name) is present in AMAKOS da Amazônia formulas especially due to the proanthocyanidin active, an antioxidant 20 times more powerful than vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than vitamin E, to neutralize free radicals, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, stimulate collagen production, firm the skin, even out skin tone, prevent blemishes, contribute to regeneration, and deeply hydrate—all to prevent premature aging.
Copaíba resin (Copaifera sp, scientific name), an Amazonian plant known as the “miracle tree,” is present in AMAKOS da Amazônia formulas for generating a highly complex oil used for over 500 years. Its composition contains copalic acid, which is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiseptic, and has high healing power. It also has a high capacity to reflect light, which gives the skin a luminous appearance. It is extracted from the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve, a Conservation Unit located in the northeastern region of the state of Amazonas.
Cacay (Caryodendron orinocense, scientific name) is a tree from whose seed a powerful oil is extracted (containing phyto-squalane, which is moisturizing). It contains 50% more vitamin E, twice as much linoleic acid (vitamin F) as Argan oil, and three times more retinol (vitamin A) than rosehip oil.
In Amakos da Amazônia formulas, Cacay is used for its retinol concentration, which contributes to the mimicry of natural squalane—a process where certain vegetable oils "imitate" the properties of squalane found in human skin, contributing to hydration and protection due to its compatibility and similarity to the skin's lipid composition.
It also increases skin resistance to aggression, resulting in hydrated, revitalized, and soft skin. Due to its cell regeneration effects, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, minimizing the harmful effects of free radicals.
Nanotechnology is present in Amakos da Amazônia formulas through active nanocapsules developed using green technology. Nanobiotechnology allows for the nanoencapsulation of actives; it is worth noting that a nanometer (nm) is a measure of something very small—for example, 1nm is equivalent to one billionth of a meter.
Therefore, the nanometric size allows nanoencapsulated actives to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, improving absorption. Another point is that the actives are released gradually from the nanocapsules, ensuring a prolonged effect without the need for frequent reapplication.
