Joelho, cotovelo e calcanhar: como mantê-los hidratados?

Knees, elbows, and heels: how to keep them hydrated?

These areas are constantly dry. The reason? They don't have a high concentration of sebaceous glands, which are responsible for producing the skin's natural oils. They also suffer more friction from clothing, as these are regions of significant movement.

In some cases, even showering and the time of year, such as drier and colder days, can intensify dryness to the point where the skin cracks, causing fissures and even bleeding.

6 hydration tips to minimize these problems for good

  1. Choose products with active ingredients that prevent transepidermal water loss and protect the skin's hydrolipidic mantle. These include butters, such as cupuaçu, and cold-pressed oils, such as cacay, rosehip, and jojoba.

Amakos da Amazônia offers the Cacay Vital Body Lotion (120 ml - R$ 179.00) which features Cacay (Caryodendron orinocense, the scientific name) as its main active ingredient, a tree from whose seed a potent oil is extracted (containing phytosqualane, which is moisturizing).

It contains 50% more vitamin E, twice as much linoleic acid (vitamin F) as Argan oil, and three times more retinol (vitamin A) than rosehip oil.

If used daily on dry areas such as knees, elbows, and heels, it increases resistance to external aggressions, resulting in moisturized, revitalized, and soft skin.

The clean beauty formula also features silicon from coconut water (deep hydration), palmitic acid from cupuaçu (which aids in absorption and prevents water retention by the skin), and plant-derived squalane (which moisturizes and maintains the protective barrier).

2. Apply the product with light, circular movements right after showering, as the pores are more open and the body absorbs it better. You can reapply before bed.

3. Do not exfoliate dry skin. Since it lacks its natural protection, exfoliating can aggravate the problem and injure these areas.

4. Avoid very hot water, as it can worsen these regions, leaving them drier. Opt for lukewarm water and quick showers.

5. Soaps formulated with alcohol or petrolatum should also be replaced by clean beauty alternatives, which do not irritate or worsen existing problems. Not to mention that they help keep the forest standing : )

6. Drink water. Yes, it is fundamental for high-quality skin and helps in the overall hydration of the body.
